How to transfer the ashes to the urn?

You will receive the ashes in one form or another from the crematorium, or from your veterinarian. Place this container inside the urn and carefully deposit the ashes. It is advisable for you to be assisted by a second person when pouring the ashes. If this is something you don’t feel capable of doing, which is perfectly understandable, you can ask your crematorium to help you (or your veterinarian).  If this can help, we can send your urn directly to the crematorium (or to the veterinarian).

What should I do with my urn?

Urns containing cremated remains can be placed in a columbarium, buried or kept in a special place at home. You can also disperse the ashes and keep the urn as a memorial in your home or garden.

Depending on your country of residence, it may not be possible to keep a funerary urn at home, as in France for example. However, a small amount of symbolically preserved ashes is tolerated. Please consult your country’s legislation.

Can I put personal and sentimental items in the urn?

Yes, this is quite possible. Many people disperse the ashes and then keep other personal items in the urn, such as hair, earth from the grave, or a picture in the urn.

How to open funerary urns?

It depends on the design of the urn, but generally they have a threaded screw lid. They can also be opened from the back or from the bottom. This latter mode of opening is particularly true for animal urns.

Do you recommend sealing the urn?

It depends on the urn, but in general you do not need to seal the lid. However, this is still possible for maximum protection.

What is a micro-urn or reliquary?

A micro-urn or reliquary is a very small urn, used to store a symbolic quantity of ashes. This is an ideal solution if a number of family members want to have some ashes and keep them at home. Also, this is useful if you wish to spread the ashes in another location, or country, or any other place far from home.

What is a cinerary/funerary jewel?

A funerary jewel is often a pendant, which can be worn around the neck or, as a bracelet, on the wrist. Its cavity contains a very small amount of ashes. It is a very discreet way to keep a loved one close to you.

Can I use a classic funerary urn for my pet?

Yes, this is perfectly possible. It is up to you to choose the model you like. Both pet and human urns have the same functionality.
